Asi Keyi Territorial Park

Asi Keyi Territorial Park is identified under Chapter 10 of the Kluane First Nation Final Agreement. It is anticipated that it will also be included in the White River First Nation Final Agreement once it is completed.

Park Objectives

The objectives of Asi Keyi Territiorial Park, as identified in the Final Agreement, include:

Park Status

Asi Keyi Territorial Park has not been formally established under the Yukon Parks and Lands Certainty Act. The area within the park boundaries identified through land claim agreements has been permanently withdrawn from mineral and oil and gas exploration.

The Yukon Government will establish an Asi Keyi Territorial Park Steering Committee – which will include representatives from the Yukon Government and the two affected First Nations – by 2009 to begin planning for the park. The Steering Committee will consider the objectives of the park as set out in the Final Agreements in developing a management plan for Asi Keyi Territorial Park.

The Steering Committee will have two years to develop a draft management plan for the park. The plan will be jointly reviewed by the Yukon Government and each of the two affected First Nations before it is approved by the Yukon’s Minister of Environment.
