Preliminary Determination that the Former Upper Tank Farm is a Contaminated Site
In accordance with the Contaminated Sites Regulation, Environment Yukon has issued a “Preliminary Determination that a Site is a Contaminated Site” for the former Upper Tank Farm and two adjacent properties in Whitehorse, Yukon.
As part of the preliminary determination process, Environment Yukon is providing a 60-day review period for interested parties to comment on the preliminary determination. The review comment period will run from October 5, 2009 to December 7, 2009. All comments generated during the review period will be considered in the decision to proceed with a final determination of the former Upper Tank Farm and associated properties as a contaminated site, or to conclude that the site is not a contaminated site.
If a final determination of a contaminated site is made following the 60-day review period, the Minister of Environment may or may not proceed to formally designate the site as a contaminated site under the Environment Act.
The preliminary determination, notification to interested parties, and comments received during the review period can be viewed by accessing the below documents.
